Tablet 02 - The Coil Of Sihn - Protocol Mechanic's Garage (1998) - CD - Full Album

When you clean out a room, you stumble upon a field of memory mines. There is no choice but to keep walking through. They all explode. They all rip and break you up but, even if happy or sad, all tears taste the same.

One memory mine was two burned CD-Rs with the words Protocol Mechanic on them, dated 1998. The discs were label side scratched. Over the last couple of nights, I managed to rip a total of twenty songs. These songs were the first tracks I recorded on my custom built "beige box" through my Sound Blaster AWE32, pre-The Coil Of Sihn. The "beige box" also contained both an Iomega Zip Drive and a Jaz Drive, which I found 10 Zip disks and 6 Jaz disks. Have not dissected those yet but, more memory mines are expected.

In 1998, I was back at square one, for various reasons. I had spent the years previous being taken away from my first savior, music. Through all of my trials and scars, music saved me. When back at square one, I knew I wanted to return to it. These twenty tracks were my way of exploring new technology, online community and to exercise(exorcise?) muscles that had atrophied. I did not have any money. But, I cobbled together a computer that could record and distribute.

So, forgive the poor quality of not only recording but, of song writing. This was a proof of concept.

I find myself again back at square one, personally. Most others would not agree. But, my reality is my world. I hope you enjoy these children who some were stillborn and some who grew into the first demo for what became the album, Enter.
